Caldwell Advisory Council Lecture Series " Bean There, Done That: How Caffeine Kicked the World into High Gear"

Location: Caldwell Nature Preserve - 430 West North Bend Rd. Cincinnati Ohio 45216

Date: Saturday March 14

Time: 9:30 am - 11:00 am

Join coffee aficionado and horticulturist, Ruthann Spears as she takes us on a journey. Get ready for a jolt of hilarity in this caffeinated crash course on how a humble bean and a feisty leaf turned humanity from sleepy sloths into productivity-crazed maniacs! In this laugh-out-loud talk, we’ll spill the tea (and coffee) on how caffeine rewired history. From 17th-century coffeehouses—where philosophers and rebels chugged brews and hatched wild ideas—to the British Empire’s tea-fueled quest to conquer the world just for a decent cuppa, caffeine didn’t just wake us up; it launched revolutions, sparked scientific breakthroughs, and probably inspired some truly terrible poetry.  Fast forward to today, and caffeine’s why we’ve got baristas as therapists, 24-hour news rants, and people tweeting manifestos at 3 a.m. while clutching a triple-shot latte. Join us for a buzzworthy romp through history that’ll leave you wired, inspired, and maybe a little jittery. Decaf drinkers, beware—you might not survive this one!  Samples provided by Wyoming Community Coffee.
